The scarf itself is intentionally simple: 25 stitches worked in garter stitch on straight needles using worsted weight wool and size US 7 (4.5mm) needles. Your child gets plenty of practice with the knit stitch while gradually building the confidence and skills they’ll need for future knitting projects.

I’m a homeschooling mom of four, a knitting designer and teacher, and I’ve been knitting for more than 15 years. Three of my own children already knit, and I created this curriculum from the experience of teaching those first stitches at home.
My hope is that Knit Together gives you enough guidance to feel confident teaching, while leaving plenty of room for the best part: sitting beside your kids, slowing down, and watching them make something with their own hands.
