Rose Love Knit Baby Blanket (FREE Pattern)
A Knit baby blanket worked in the super simple garter stitch. This is a really therapeutic way to ease back into knitting and being creative after having a baby.
Welcome Lucy Rose!
Did you know that for 9 months I was convinced I was pregnant with a baby boy?
Now, it was a big (and very good!) surprise when, after having two girls and waiting to find out our third baby’s gender, we heard another proclamation of “it’s a girl!” But when we announced to my family, my mom immediately joked to my dad, “She named her son Lucy!” That’s how sure we were!
But, Lord let me tell you, I had serious mom guilt that for 9 months I was convinced my baby girl was a “he”. Silly, I know, but coming down from those hormones it really felt like I just didn’t know my baby! It didn’t take long before I was dreaming up some super girly things to add to her gender neutral, slightly more boyish woodland nursery.
So the first thing I cast on specifically for our little Lucy Rose after meeting her was the Rose Love knit baby blanket. I didn’t have to think about my stitches (good thing, because I was knitting while dead tired!) and I wanted to pass along the ease and cuteness of this pattern! I had knit a few things already for Lucy, like this ultimate list here.

Woodland flower inspiration for a knit baby blanket
I knew I was looking for a soft pink yarn for the knit baby blanket that would match some wildflower wall art in our woodland nursery. But since I was quarantined with a newborn, I had to fall back on my yarn stash at home and I’m so glad I did or I would have missed this fuzzy goodness. The Yarn Bee Snuggle Up yarn in the color Soft Pink matched the soft, feminine, but not cotton candy pink I was looking for. And I wanted to create a small blanket for tummy time, to cover her up in the stroller, and to eventually become a toddler lovey like my 2 year old is currently obsessed with. I’m talking Linus-level blanket loving!
Lucy Rose loves the fluff, you and I love that the only stitch needed for this blanket is knit!! For another super easy blanket to knit for babies, check out the Woodland Moss Blanket here.
And just like my Woodland Moss knit baby blanket pattern, this blanket is great for a baby 0-6 months old for tummy time, plus a stroller blanket and lovey for older babies and toddlers. We had a lot of fun doing a photo shoot in her woodland nursery with Lucy’s knit baby blanket! And if you want to make this bigger or smaller to fit a lovey or throw size you just have to add or take away a few inches.
Luckily the whole project took pretty quickly because of the bulky yarn. And, if you’re not expecting but know someone who is, this would be a really special baby shower or baby’s first Christmas gift!
