Ep 001: How to Beat Busy and Find More Time to Knit

Sharing is caring!

Mama Llama Knitting Podcast episode 001

In our first episode, we’re chatting about how to beat busy and find more time to knit.

Mom life has us pulled in different directions between kids, home, and work. Sometimes knitting takes the back burner, even though it could be the self care we stressed moms need!

If you find yourself constantly getting ready to sit and knit, only to be stopped by those snacking toddlers and curious preschoolers, you’re in the right place.

For awhile, I thought I didn’t have a place in the knitting community.

I’m not a young knitter living in the city without kids, and I’m not able to go to mid-morning knitting groups without kids. I’m a homeschool mom of four in the countryside!

Stereotypes aside, there is definitely a different side to knitting as a mom. It involves budgeting for diapers instead of the good yarn, and it means changing said diapers throughout the day instead of sitting down to knit at night to Parks and Rec reruns.

So I decided to create that online space for other moms, even if it’s just one other knitting mom!

I want this to be a place where you’re nodding your head, heard.

And a place where we can bond over cleaning spit up and peanut butter off of our wool sweaters together. Solidarity!

Why busy is ruining our knitting

Knitting is a skill and it’s a relaxing slow hobby.

And when we let life take over our day, instead of carving out a little mommy time to ourselves, we start to lose that skill.

We also start to lose our identity outside of being Mom.

In today’s episode, which you can watch above or listen to in your favorite podcast player app, we’re tackling how to become less busy and find even more time to knit.
