A case of the cozies

We’re on month number two in a year-long collection of cozy things each month! You can watch the video that goes along with this post, or keep scrolling to read more.

My hope is that sharing these ideas gives you encouragement and ideas of things you can bring into your life to feel cozier.

This simple list is a mix of store bought and from scratch cozy things that I want to pass along.

I hope that they bring you some calm and peace in your life and in your home. It’s also my goal that through A Year of Cozy, you can follow along month-by-month for cozy inspiration. But I also want to have a collection that you can come back to each year, each month when you find yourself needing a little extra coziness.

February cozy things

February is kind of an awkward teenager of a month, isn’t it?

It’s not spring yet, and there are blizzards one week and 50 degrees the next.

So, I really wanted to share five cozy things that have really helped me with staying cozy inside while fighting cabin fever.

1. Homemade bread

Making bread from scratch at home is so cozy!

We’ve been making this glorious and delicious milk and honey white bread multiple times each week.

Once we worked it into our routine, it’s been wonderful to have.

Homemade bread is so yummy for thick french toast, extra cheesy grilled cheese sandwiches, and to go with a hearty lasagna.

2. DIY mug

If you have any mugs, particularly cozy campfire mugs, that have been waiting for a DIY like me, now is the time!

I used my Cricut to create some cozy mugs. It was perfect timing because I just had a favorite Rae Dunn mug that spelled “calm” break!

So, in honor of my love of knitting and cinnamon rolls, I got to work!

3. Cinnamon rolls

Speaking of cinnamon rolls…

I couldn’t continue this series without shouting out cinnamon rolls!

This Valentine’s Day, I made some fun cinnamon roll art with Pillsbury cinnamon rolls.

If you unroll them, there are a lot of fun shapes you can create your cinnamon rolls into.

I made hearts for the girls, and I’m excited to make more for future holidays and seasons!

4. Laminated menu & schedule

I’ve been getting a lot of use out of my laminator, and I almost never even bought it!

I was on the fence for awhile, but decided that I’d use it enough between work and homeschooling.

And…homemaking!

This month, I created pretty laminated menus and a daily schedule with pretty stickers in my stash.

It saves paper and is so satisfying to wipe off as you finish a task!

Clara has been loving that she can also see the schedule and the upcoming meals! I’m also going to start adding times to certain parts of our routine to help her practice telling time.

5. Sugar maple tree

John grew a sugar maple tree. In our windowsill. I know!

He put some seeds he collected into a plastic zip-top bag along with a damp paper towel. Then he stuck it in the fridge for a few months.

Then, he planted those seeds into some soil in a plastic cup.

We’ve loved watching this thing grow right in our windowsill. It makes washing dishes so much more enjoyable!

If you want to start some seeds the same way, this blog post is a great resource!

Save these cozy things

I hope that this list gives you some ideas and inspiration of things you can do or use to feel cozy in February.

You can use these ideas going into March to give you comfort and calm, or revisit them next February when you find yourself in the slump late in the month.
