Farmhouse Knitting Podcast: Coasters and Knitting in the Car: S3E3

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to the Farmhouse Knitting Podcast! Today I’m knitting in the car, as I make it more cozy with yarn & cozy, simple things.

Grab a cup of something cozy and let’s hang out for a bit!

What I’m wearing

Today I showed off my new crocheted Haze Scarf that I tied in my hair and wore as a headband. I used up the rest of my share a pair from Mandi’s Makings, and now I feel the need to replenish my stash!

Next year, of course…I’m not buying any yarn this year until I work on my massive yarn stash a little bit!

It’s a super simple crochet pattern by Darling J’adore. Sierra, the designer, is offering all Farmhouse Knitting Podcast viewers a 20% off coupon with code TYF20 for any of her patterns! The code doesn’t expire, and can be stacked on top of any ongoing sales she’s having.

I’ve knit her Farmhouse Tea Towel and Campfire Sweater in the past year and love them both!

What I’ve finished knitting and crocheting

I have finished objects today!

I finally finished up my dark green Country Cabin Socks, and I love the heathery tones in this yarn.

John’s socks also came off the needles. They’re vanilla socks and I knit them with Patons Kroy Sock yarn in the color Flax.

A crocheted item! I made 8 super quick car cupholder coasters to keep the car cozy and clean. I made Pink, Aqua, and Dove for myself, John, and the kids using I Love This Cotton yarn. I followed the pattern for rounds 1-4, but I used a size I/9 hook to make it fit nice and snug in the cup holders.

These even fit in car seat cup holders!

Yes, I need a pattern for simple crocheted circles! But it’s free and written clearly, so no regrets there.

What I’m knitting now

I cast off the socks, and you know what that means: new cast ons!

I’m remaking the Alpine Hat (which I modified into a headband) for Natalie. Soccer is coming up soon, and she’s complaining that it’s just too scratchy and tight!

I originally knit this in the round for 8 inches and seamed it together on the underside. But, now I’m going to make it a little bigger (cast on 52 stitches) and knit the two ends together to close it up.

I’m using size 8 needles and the yarn is from my stash: Wool of the Andes worsted in the color Blossom Heather- so pretty!

My second new cast on is the Calligraphy Pullover by The Velvet Acorn that was in time out. I finally sorted things out and we’re cruising along!

I’m using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes bulky in the color Clarity, which is such a pretty ice blue color I’m obsessed with! She also loves “Frozen” and Elsa and anything light blue. I have a feeling that this is going to be a hit!

A case of the cozies and a cozy car

Make sure to watch the whole episode to see what’s going on outside my window, what I did as a homebody in the wild, my latest Trader Joe’s find (Chick-Fil-A fans, get ready!) and of course what’s giving me a case of the cozies!
