I typically slow down my knitting once the weather warms up, unless I’m preparing to welcome a new baby that year. There’s something freeing about giving knitting some space so that I can pick up an old forgotten hobby (but you might be the exact opposite as me!).

However, this particular summer, I have taken longer stretches of completely not knitting, mixed with a stretch here and there of picking up my needles again. It seems like my knitting mojo fluctuates with the summer heat.

Scorching days outside call for pool days and popsicles. But stormy summer nights have me pulling my socks right back out of my bag.

With the right questions, you can give a name to the feelings around your summer knitting personality. So let’s take a quiz!

For each question, jot down your answer on a scrap of paper and we’ll pinpoint your summer knitting personality.

If you answered mostly:

a. Hiatus Knitter-

You’re a knitter who likes to take a full on knitting summer break. You prefer to put away the needles until the weather cools down again so you can garden, surf, or read more. Definitely a bit of a rebel who goes against the grain, you love the different adventures that each season brings.

b. Nostalgic Knitter-

Oh Nostalgic Knitters, the highly needed, wonderful, dependable moms of our knitting circle! We’d be lost without your loyalty to the craft. It doesn’t matter if it’s 90 degrees outside, you power through those sweaters and are happily working on Christmas stockings in July!

c. A+ Summer Knitter-

If this is your personality type, you’re likely a rule follower. It’s summertime, so you immerse yourself in summer scarves, market bags, and you’ll even dive into crochet for some cup cozies and swim suits!

d. Market Prepper-

You’re a very highly driven go-getter! Most likely an entrepreneur, specifically a craft market seller, you spend your summers on a very limited list of certain hats, mittens, and scarves in a specific color range. You’ve got the lists and lists of what needs to be made and by when all summer long!

e. Yarn Collector-

Yarn collectors are generally dreamers. You don’t necessarily knit during the summer, but instead you peruse the yarn aisles, maybe grab a new knitting book from the library, and probably spend time organizing your yarn and planning future projects.

Surprise yourself? Or was it pretty spot on?

No doubt, this extremely scientific formula won’t give you every answer you’ve ever had about yourself (sigh, if only).

But I really hope that it was fun to take a look at why you do the things you do in the summertime, and spotlights where you put your priorities this season based on your summer knitting personality!
