Sharing is caring!

Farmhouse Chicken Socks knitting pattern

Knitted cuff down with a short leg and pretty cable twist set to a stockinette backdrop, the Farmhouse Chicken Socks Knitting Pattern have a heel flap and gusset and feature up to three color changes for contrasting cuffs, heels, and toes.

Skill level and materials for the Farmhouse Chicken Socks Knitting Pattern

The Farmhouse Chicken Socks Knitting Pattern is an intermediate level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are knit/purl ribbing and simple cables. The toes are finished with the kitchener stitch, and the heel is worked with a heel flap and gusset. I chose to knit with 9″ circulars and switch to DPN’s for the heel and toe. You can use another method you find most comforable.

There were several test knitters for the Farmhouse Chicken Socks. They tested all three sizes of the pattern (Women’s Small, Medium, and Large), and gave input on pattern wording and gave findings of any grammatical or mathematical errors in the pattern. They all described the pattern and easy and quick, and the finished socks as a great fit!

To knit the shortie socks, you will need approximately 460 yards total of light fingering weight yarn. Testers using one main color and a contrast colors for the cuffs, heels, and toes reported using 20g of the contrast color and 30g of the main color. You will also need size US 1 (2.25 mm) circular knitting needles and double pointed needles to work the heels and toes.
